Sleep like a baby while your baby sleeps.

It all began as an idea to watch over a baby’s heartbeat and soon developed into a comprehensive concept for monitoring and responding different metrics of an infant for home use.

I was chosen to participate in a blockseminar called THINK.MAKE.START. for rapid prototyping and business development in the form of a mock start-up. Juno’z was created within a team of two biomedical engineering students, two business management students and me. One of the two business management students had given birth two months ago. She was anxious about being a young mother, as well as it being her firstborn. She missed her son terribly during the long days of the blockseminar and could only see him if somebody had the time to hold a phone over the create.

Thus, the initial idea of monitoring an infant’s heartbeat to detect arrhythmias by using a additional blanket on top of a mattress developed into an entire eco-system of changing metrics and response, while providing the parent with the relevant information. The system includes a mobile application to show the parents processed and evaluated information in an informal way, which it gets from the sock for the baby gathering information on different metrics using various sensors. The smart mattress responds to changes in the metrics of the infants, like cooling down or warming up to create the best sleep environment, thus, putting both the baby and the young parents at ease.
