I was looking for something with history as well as an adventure - you never know what you find under paint and lacquer. So after removing the paint, the beautiful wood and its corner notches were exposed. Since the chest is quite massive, I wanted it to look like it’s floating and chose thin metal legs.

Finally I closed the large cracks at the top with epoxy resin and waxed it to give it a satin finish.
